The Department for Work and Pensions have launched an innovative new system to ensure British Sign Language users have better, easier access to all government services.

The video relay service (VRS) enables users to make BSL interpreted video calls via their computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. A professional interpreter then relays the message in English to a relevant member of DWP staff.

The introduction of this ground-breaking service demonstrates the DWP’s commitment to making services accessible for people living with a disability. The Minister for Disabled People has made accessibility across all sectors of the UK top priority.
